Blessed is the man...
|
Blessed is the man who
trusts
in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree
planted
by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not
fear
when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries
in
a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah
17:7-8)
My family is blessed to live
right
across the street from where this picture was taken. Living in a
rural
environment constantly reminds me of God's creativity and faithfulness.
The trees by the edge of our lake beautifully illustrate these
wonderful
verses from Jeremiah. They will be green every year because they
have
a constant and abundant source of water.
The prophet says that everyone who puts full trust and confidence in
God
will be just as these trees—always nourished, always healthy and always
fruitful.
This doesn’t work for those who trust partly in God and partly in their
own
abilities to make it through life. We must be single-minded to
experience
God’s blessing in this way.
But what a reward awaits those who cast all upon Him! At the end
of
his life, Joshua was able to say with confidence, "Not one of all
the
good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed;
all
came to pass." (Joshua 21:45) Friend, if you truly put all
of
your confidence in the Lord, He has given His solemn word He will never
fail
you.
